From Perth to the World: A Live Glimpse into the Curtin University Classroom at ICET 2026

The 8th Annual International Academic Conference on Education and Technology (ICET 2026) is proud to announce a truly unique “Virtual Mobility” event.

On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, conference participants will have the rare opportunity to step inside a live, active classroom at Curtin University (Australia).

Led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tomayess Issa, IATELS Committee Board, a renowned pioneer in Green IT and sustainable design, this special track—“Sustainability Awareness: The Intersection of AI and Global Responsibility”—offers a window into how the next generation of global leaders is tackling the 21st century’s most “wicked” problems.

On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, ICET 2026 Conference participants will have the rare opportunity to step inside a live, active classroom for

“MGMT6085: Corporate Sustainability Immersion”at Curtin University (Australia).

“Sustainability is not just a ‘topic’ to be memorized; it is a mindset that must be practiced. In our upcoming session for ICET 2026, we are opening the doors of our Curtin University classroom to the world to show that education for sustainable development is about more than data—it’s about metacognition.

Using our ‘5-Minute, 4-Slide’ challenge, my students are tasked with a difficult mission: to distill complex global crises—from pollution to the ethical dilemmas of AI—into actionable, human-centric insights.

We want conference participants to see that in the 21st century, the student is no longer a passive receiver of information but an active architect of sustainable solutions.

Integrating AI into this framework is critical. We aren’t just using AI for efficiency; we are examining it as a ‘cognitive partner’ that must be governed by ethical and human-centered values. I am thrilled to share this live, authentic learning experience with the IATELS community—it’s a true bridge between Perth and the global academic stage.”

The Challenge: 5 Minutes. 4 Slides. Global Impact.

This isn’t a traditional lecture. It is a high-stakes, fast-paced showcase of student innovation. Dr. Issa’s students will present their critical findings on five pillars of global survival:

  • Pollution & Waste Awareness: Moving toward a circular economy.
  • Energy Awareness: Decarbonizing our digital and physical footprints.
  • Education Awareness: Literacy for a sustainable future.
  • The AI Intersection: How Artificial Intelligence acts as both a challenge and a “cognitive partner” in achieving sustainability.
